"For me, Jeff Polley, the camera has been a constant companion, my life-long partner in making pictures that people cherish. Even as a child my preference was to take the family photos, rather than be in them.
Through the 80's I worked at my craft, seizing an opportunity at the end of the decade to join a local newspaper covering sport, then in the 90's joining 'The Scene' magazine covering all things musical in Brisbane, from stadium rock to pub rock, fashion and celebrity snaps. One chance to get it right, no second take, no control over proceedings...
There is no substitute for that kind of experience. You learn to be ready for anything, to shoot on instinct. You have to capture an entire performance in a single frame, freeze the action for all to see, seize the moment and distill it for a lifetime... The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, U2, Kylie... now, I want to photograph you!"
