Nothing was going to stop Melissa and Sidney from seeing their special day through, even though they were thrown more obstacles than most couples on their wedding day. There were forgotten items, late arrivals, rain, rain and more rain… and then hail, but despite it all, it was an amazing day filled with what matters most… love!
The boys were getting ready at the R & R Ranch, a modern homestead hidden in the hills between Bangalow and Byron Bay. It features every electronic device you can build into a home and I think the guys had spent most of the previous night trying to work out how to drive everything via an iPad.
The girls’ preparations took place at the Bangalow Guesthouse, which was also the location for the ceremony and reception. During their preparations, the guys from Fairbrooke Horses and Carriages just happened to swing by and offered them a lap around the main street of Bangalow.
All morning the skies had been clear but with rumors of a storm front approaching, Simon from Eat, Drink Catering was keeping a close eye on the weather radar, to ensure all aspects of the day ran as best they possibly could. The ceremony ended up being postponed for an hour as the storm passed and then again we had bright, cloudless skies… just perfect for a garden wedding.
A little later during the reception, we were all caught by surprise as another storm came across, this time bringing with it thundering sheets of hail. It hit right in the middle of what may well have been the most heartfelt Groom’s speech I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. The storm at least gave everyone a little time to regain their composure before part two of the speech.
Thank you for letting me be part of your special day guys. It certainly will be a day to remember.
Great work Rich! I’m glad you managed to stay out of the hail.
Thanks Sal! I managed to avoid the hail… sadly my new car wasn’t so lucky.
