It was a simply glorious afternoon on Tuesday in Byron Bay. I spent the last 90 minutes of daylight strolling between The Pass and Clarkes Beach, capturing these images for Kym & Kent on their engagement session shoot. We include an engagement session with each of our wedding packages. It’s a great way for everyone to get to know one another, and for me to understand what is important to the couple photographically. I believe this is something that shouldn’t wait until the wedding day and having this prior knowledge can only add to the quality of images captured on the big day.
Kym & Kent are to be married this Saturday in Alstonville with their reception at Down Convery’s Lane. Keep an eye on the blog for more from this stunning couple.

Another gorgeous day and another gorgeous couple. Yesterday I met with Sarah and Justin for their engagement session at Broken Head. Being the first day of Daylight Savings and the middle of a long weekend, we didn’t exactly have the secluded beach we were hoping for. On the flip-side however, it was also grand-final day, so the crowds thinned out as kick-off time drew nearer.
I first met Sarah and Justin at the recent Byron Bay Wedding Fair and they have chosen Figtree Restaurant & Rooms as the venue for their March 2014 wedding. The team at Figtree must certainly be doing something right (as they always do)… about half of the weddings I have booked in for the start of next year are at Figtree. It’s no surprise, Figtree is a beautiful venue with amazing staff. It is going to be a sensational wedding guys!

Yesterday’s engagement session with Erin & Evan was so much fun! Not since the tropical waters of Fiji at Catherine & Troys wedding earlier this year have I ventured into the water to capture an image, but yesterday the weather was so nice I decided I just had to get wet… and I’m so pleased I did. And to even the score, Erin and Evan jumped into the lake for the last shot of the day. What great sports! I think the effort was certainly worth it. I absolutely love the image we made. The couple are silhouetted again the last light of the day, framed by Tea Trees and accompanied by a pair of ducks… I love it!
I am so looking forward to shooting Erin & Evan’s wedding at Figtree Restaurant & Rooms in January. It will be my first wedding of the year and I couldn’t think of a nicer couple to start the year with!

I don’t believe I ever question why I live in this part of the country, but if ever I did, afternoons like last Sunday would surely be reason enough. It was a spectacular afternoon in Byron Bay and the perfect setting for an engagement session. Melissa and Sidney are an awesome young couple and really great sports. We spent much of the afternoon just admiring the weather and the sunset, but at other times, they were climbing over sharp rocks, strolling down dirt tracks, along-side no-so-pleasant-smelling swamp lands and standing in ankle-high sea water (which turned into waist-high sea water as soon as they hit their marks)… anything to get the shot!
The Bangalow Guesthouse will play host to their November wedding and I really can’t wait to spend another day shooting with these guys… they truly are a wonderful couple.

What a beautiful afternoon it was yesterday for Renee & Tom’s engagement photo session. I’ve said it before, and I’ll no doubt say it again… Byron Bay and her surrounding villages have no shortage of gorgeous locations to shoot in. Renee & Tom are Ewingsdale locals and we started the session just off the highway on the way into Byron Bay. Ewingsdale has some beautiful country settings and it is literally just a few minutes from the beach. From there we headed to Belongil Beach for a little variety in the session. The guys introduced me to a part of Belongil that I hadn’t been to before. An amazing, secluded beach that I am sure to return to.
I hope you enjoyed the session as much as I did guys and that you love your images. I can’t wait for your Figtree wedding next year.
