Beth, Craig & Corey. Alstonville Family Portrait Photography

Some portrait sessions take a little longer to plan than others. Take our (almost) neighbours Beth and Craig for instance. When we first met Beth and Craig they were newly engaged, planning their wedding, and had contacted us to take some photos for their engagement. But, for some reason we never seemed to be able to find the right time for both of us (crazy seeming we live on the same street!) Then, Beth celebrated a milestone birthday and thought it would be a great to have birthday portraits taken. Once again, mysteriously perhaps, it just never eventuated. But, it seems life had even bigger plans for these two! When the stars finally aligned and we had organised the photo shoot, Beth and Craig had even more to celebrate. They say good things are worth waiting for…. to Beth and Craig, congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby boy, Corey.  He’s absolutely perfect, well worth waiting for.

Meet ‘The Face’ of the 2012 Ballina Bridal Expo

Last week the above image was chosen to be ‘The Face’ of the 2012 Ballina Bridal Expo. This was one of my favourite bridal portraits from the wedding of Louise and James last September. During their wedding day, we had quite a bit of time between the end of the ceremony and the start of the reception, so to cool the nerves and escape the midday sun for a while, we all went to Bistrot Bistro for an hour or so. Bistrot Bistro is a gorgeous little French Bar and Restaurant in Woollongabba, Brisbane. The upper level is very elegantly styled while downstairs is quite rugged and rustic… perfect for a little variety during a shoot!

The above image was a last minute grab… almost an after-thought. As everyone was packing up and preparing to leave for the next location, I noticed some gorgeous light spilling in through the northern windows. I quickly asked Louise to take a seat near the window and managed to snap off about three frames before we had to move on. I love the image and am proud to have had it selected to be this year’s face of the expo. If you come along to the Ballina Bridal Expo this year, make sure you stop by our stand and meet Louise and James in person. It all takes place at the Ballina RSL Club on March 25th between 9:30am and 4pm. See you there!

2011 ABIA Wedding Photographer of the Year (NSW) Finalist

Each year the Australian Bridal Industry Academy hosts an awards program unlike many others. Instead of being judged solely on the quality of a few select images by a number of photography peers, the ABIA Awards are judged by REAL clients, reflecting their REAL experience with various bridal industry suppliers.

In 2011, I received an average rating from my clients of 96.28% which resulted in my being a finalist in the NSW Wedding Photographer of the Year category. This was the first year I had entered the awards and I was totally overwhelmed by this result. I would like to thank all of my amazing 2011 couples for this incredible feedback.

Thank you so much for allowing me to play such an important role in your special day. To me, this positive feedback from you means more than anything and I am so pleased that I met or exceeded your expectations. I hope you all enjoy long and happy lives together and that the imagery from your wedding is something you’ll reminisce over often and share with your children and grandchildren in years to come.
