What an incredible afternoon it was on Sunday in Ballina for Louise and Tiernan’s engagement session. As I was driving into Ballina, I came very close to calling these guys and rescheduling the shoot as there was plenty of rain and heavy storm clouds all over Ballina. I’m so glad I didn’t! We started the shoot at Shelly Beach and although there were storms raging off the coast, the air was still… eery still… and so the risk of getting caught in the rain was pretty low. We were just winding up and heading back to the cars when we caught a few sprinkles. Great timing! The same thing happened at North Wall and the light was simply superb. We finished the afternoon at The Serpentine where things were really starting to look a little grey, but as we were on a winning streak, just as we were about to finish up, the sun poked through the only hole in the clouds and just showered the entire landscape in an amazingly rich golden glow. All in all, I couldn’t have asked for a better performance from the Weather Gods!

It seems like only yesterday that I was photographing the Carter family. I covered Stacey Carter’s wedding late last year and for Mother’s Day this year, she gave her mum Joy a gift voucher for this photo session. It was wonderful to see everyone again and while we had to duck for cover a few times during sudden bursts of rain, all in all I think everyone had a great afternoon.

Engagement sessions are so much fun that I think I could happily shoot one everyday… and lately it almost seems like I have been!
This past Saturday was Melissa and Bradley’s turn. Melissa was the winner of our $300 Gift Voucher at this year’s Ballina Bridal Expo. She and Brad were newly engaged and super-excited to have won. We were lucky enough to shoot on one of those magical Autumn afternoons at the popular Shelly Beach, Ballina and the Serpentine, a stunning area of Ballina that makes a perfect backdrop for a Northern River’s sunset. It was a lovely relaxing afternoon and I hope Melissa and Bradley love their images as much as I loved taking them.
