I’ve been shooting at The Pass in Byron Bay quite a bit lately and it can be difficult to come up with new and exciting ways to shoot the same location over and over again. Thankfully, for this shoot though, the pressure to create something ‘new’ simply didn’t exist. You see Rhydian came to me after seeing another one of my recent blog posts and said ‘I want exactly that’! So, we set out to recreate something I had already done before. In doing so however, I think we ended up with a set of images that although were in a familiar setting, were filled with Rhydian’s fun-loving and professional persona, making each image truly unique.
Rhydian is a multi-talented guy. He’s a professional model, a photographer, a hair-dresser but what he is most widely known for is his incredible singing and showmanship. He is currently putting together an event in Bangalow that is simply not to be missed… especially is you are a fan of Michael Bublé. Full details are as follows (see you there!)
“
The Music of Michael Bublé”

One of the things I love most about being a wedding photographer is experiencing all the different ways people choose to celebrate their special day. The different cultures and religions, the locations and settings, the styling, all of it very diverse and equally appropriate and fitting to each couple. On this weekend, I spent Saturday in Bowral shooting the wedding of Jess and Sam, set in colour-rich autumn countryside, and the very next morning, I was back to the sunshine and golden sands of Byron Bay for the intimate ceremony of Kirby and Brad.
Kirby and Brad are from Mount Gambier in South Australia and fell in love with Byron on a previous holiday. They were married amongst a small gathering of family and friends on Byron Bay’s gorgeous Clarkes Beach. Michelle Shannon officiated the ceremony in her forever friendly and casual style. The guests were treated to the delicacies of the Byron Beach Cafe while we popped up to the Byron Bay Lighthouse in style, chauffeured by Alex of Coast 58 in his pristine 1958 Kombi.
I’d like to make a special mention and send out a huge thank you to Suze McLeod of Down Bangalow Road for assisting and second-shooting on the day… and capturing some incredible imagery!

I love an emotional wedding and Jess and Sam’s beautiful autumn wedding in Bowral was the most emotional wedding I have ever had the pleasure of attending. Jessica’s dad was in tears when he first saw Jess in her dress. Sam burst into tears as soon as Jess started making her way towards the awaiting guests, and continued throughout the entire ceremony. Sam’s dad was in tears as soon as Sam started crying… and I was tearing up as I went through selecting the images for this post. There were very few handshakes during the post-ceremony congratulations, instead everyone was participating in heartfelt hugs and kisses. It truly was a beautiful moment to be a part of.
This was my first time shooting in Bowral and to say it was gorgeous would be an understatement. The landscape was scattered with autumn trees in full colour and pretty little vineyards around every corner. Special thanks to McVitty Vineyard for allowing us to shoot on their spectacular driveway. Jess and Sam chose Peppers Craigieburn for their ceremony and reception and their grounds were certainly some of the best in the region.
If you are thinking of getting married in the Southern Highlands region, please call me… I can’t wait to shoot here again!

Easter Weekend in the Northern Rivers for the most part was wet… wet, wet, wet. Annie and Denham were up from country Victoria visiting family and had scheduled their engagement shoot for Saturday afternoon, but sadly it was too wet to achieve the kind of sunny beach shots the couple had in mind. On Sunday however, the clouds parted and gave way to an absolutely glorious afternoon. Lennox Head holds a special place in the couple’s hearts, so it was great to be able to shoot in and around Lennox and Boulder Beach.
You’ll see more of Annie and Denham later in the year when they are married on Annie’s family property at Alstonville.
