Melissa & James. A Bangalow Engagement Session.

Mel-James-Engagement-001

I spent a beautiful afternoon with Melissa & James recently at Bangalow’s newest wedding venue Forget Me Not Weddings. This venue is a hidden little oasis with gorgeous grounds, a great pond with rustic jetty and set amongst the rolling hills and countryside that make this part of the world so popular with wedding couples.

Melissa & James are to be married at the end of the month at the equally spectacular Fig Tree Restaurant & Rooms, overlooking beautiful Byron Bay. If you are planning a wedding and happen to be in the area next weekend (June 20/21), pop into Fig Tree to see myself and many other wedding vendors at this year’s Byron Bay Wedding Fair. I’d love to discuss your wedding with you, so come along. I’ll be there all weekend.

Rhydian Lewis. Bangalow’s Bublé.

Rhydian-Lewis-008I’ve been shooting at The Pass in Byron Bay quite a bit lately and it can be difficult to come up with new and exciting ways to shoot the same location over and over again. Thankfully, for this shoot though, the pressure to create something ‘new’ simply didn’t exist. You see Rhydian came to me after seeing another one of my recent blog posts and said ‘I want exactly that’! So, we set out to recreate something I had already done before. In doing so however, I think we ended up with a set of images that although were in a familiar setting, were filled with Rhydian’s fun-loving and professional persona, making each image truly unique.

Rhydian is a multi-talented guy. He’s a professional model, a photographer, a hair-dresser but what he is most widely known for is his incredible singing and showmanship. He is currently putting together an event in Bangalow that is simply not to be missed… especially is you are a fan of Michael Bublé. Full details are as follows (see you there!)

The Music of Michael Bublé

Annie & Denham. Lennox Head Engagement Session.

Annie-Denham-001

Easter Weekend in the Northern Rivers for the most part was wet… wet, wet, wet. Annie and Denham were up from country Victoria visiting family and had scheduled their engagement shoot for Saturday afternoon, but sadly it was too wet to achieve the kind of sunny beach shots the couple had in mind. On Sunday however, the clouds parted and gave way to an absolutely glorious afternoon. Lennox Head holds a special place in the couple’s hearts, so it was great to be able to shoot in and around Lennox and Boulder Beach.

You’ll see more of Annie and Denham later in the year when they are married on Annie’s family property at Alstonville.

Karmen & Nick. Byron Bay Engagement Photo Session.

Karmen-Nick-001

I absolutely love sunset sessions at the beach, and Karmen and Nick’s engagement session was certainly no exception. Karmen and Nick are visiting Australia from Hong Kong and wanted some images to celebrate their engagement but also to capture the essence of their new favourite place, Byron Bay. On a day that started out very overcast and grey, I couldn’t believe the gorgeous afternoon we had to work with. Everything fell into place and the result was a fun, casual shoot in one of the most amazing places on the planet.

The guys are due to be married back in Hong Kong later this year. Karmen and Nick, don’t forget if you have trouble finding a wedding photographer back in Hong Kong, I’m only a nine hour flight away : )

The 2015 AIPP Queensland Epson Professional Photography Awards

Today was the first day of the 2015 AIPP Queensland Professional Photography Awards. I still can’t quite believe it, but each of my four entries into the Landscape category received a Silver award. This was my very first time entering this category and I couldn’t be happier with the result. Special thanks to Tristam Evison from EV Photo at Tweed Heads who masterfully printed all of my entries and made them look their absolute best!

Lorna & Nathan. A Bangalow Engagement Session.

Lorna-Nathan (1)

Earlier this week Lorna, Nathan and I managed to squeeze in a couple of hours between rain showers to shoot their engagement session in and around Bangalow. The 4th of July is a big day for celebrations for our North American friends, but this year it will be an even bigger day for Lorna and Nathan. The couple are to be married at St Kevins Catholic Church in Bangalow and then celebrate the event with a reception at Bangalow’s famous (and freshly painted) A&I Hall.
