It was a cold, wet drive down to Yamba on Saturday and when I arrived I could tell everyone was thinking the same thing… “How do we save a backyard wedding from torrential rain?” A last minute marquee was organised, but even that wasn’t going to hold up if the rain and wind didn’t die down. Thankfully, as has been the case with many weddings this season, just before the ceremony, the clouds parted and gave way to a beautiful afternoon.
Di and Don’s canal-sided backyard was the perfect location for this intimate wedding. Di had organised some incredible details including flowers and bouquets made of various ginger flowers. They were simply stunning! Many of Di and Don’s family had travelled from the far reaches of the earth to be at their wedding and it was certainly worth the trip.
This wedding even had its own resident clown. Now I know many weddings tend to have a few clowns by the end of the reception, but this one had a true-to-life one. Di’s son Coen ran away to join the circus several years ago and has been travelling all throughout Europe and North America with Vague de Cirque. His juggling and acrobatics were certainly great crowd pleasers.
