Kate & Dan. A Retro Engagement Session.

Kate & Dan. A Retro Engagement Session.

When scouting for interesting locations for engagement sessions, an important factor for me is to find somewhere very secluded, where the couple can feel at ease and not have to worry about on-lookers… Kate and Dan’s engagement session was about as far removed from this ideal as you could get.

In early June, Coolangatta comes alive with style, cars and music from the 50’s and 60’s. Kate and Dan chose to get into the vibe and have their shoot in amongst the spectacular that is ‘Cooly Rocks On’. So 50’s styled Kate, Dapper-Dan and I took to the streets, with thousands of other people and made this series of images.

As chaotic as it was at times, the general vibe was electric and we definitely all had a ball! The old classic cars were the perfect props for the shoot and I’d like to thank the owners who graciously let us use their vehicles. After such a fun day, I really can’t wait for Kate and Dan’s wedding next year… it’s going to be a blast!

Stacey & Jarrod. A Wedding Proposal Caught on Camera.

Stacey & Jarrod. A Wedding Proposal Caught on Camera.

Some couples are just meant to be together and Stacey and Jarrod are indeed one of those couples. During our session, the guys were so comfortable together that I really didn’t need to provide any direction… I simply sat back and captured their lovingly playful interaction. This photo shoot was just one activity of a day packed with pampering that Jarrod has surprised Stacey with as an early birthday present. Little did she know that the day had actually been months in the planning and Jarrod was just about to ask her to spend the rest of her life with him.

I’m not sure who was more nervous, Jarrod or me? He seemed cool as a cucumber, but as time passed I was beginning to wonder if it was going to happen. At one point I thought he had dropped the ring in a mound of fallen leaves and I was bracing for disaster. Thankfully though, that wasn’t the case. The day had been scattered with showers and although we started with a dry patch, it soon started drizzling and as we all became wetter and wetter it seemed like Stacey was about to call an end to the session… and then Jarrod got down on one knee and Stacey started jumping for joy. Soon we were standing in the pouring rain but the couple didn’t even notice. They were too busy celebrating love!

Stephanie & Christopher. A Bangalow Wedding.

Stephanie & Christopher. A Bangalow Wedding.

What an incredible day it was for Stephanie & Christopher’s wedding! Fun, relaxed, emotional… it was everything you would want your wedding day to be.

My day started with the boys’ preparation in Ballina at the Groom’s parents house… and conveniently also at their personal hairstylist who lives right nextdoor! The girls were all getting ready at the couple’s home in Cumbalum, before being whisked away to Bangalow by Forever Kombis.

I can honestly say that I have never seen The Moller Pavilion at Bangalow Showgrounds look as good as it did for Steph & Chris’ wedding. The couple did an incredible job with their rustic styling and The Alstonville Florist really outdid themselves with dressing the arbor and all the other floral delights.

As everyone gathered under the big ol’ fig tree, we could see the Kombi with the bridesmaids arrive at the entrance… but then it stood still… for much longer than Chris anticipated. Was it cold feet? A breakdown? Change of heart?? Thankfully not, somehow the gate that had just been unlocked minutes before had been locked again. Once everyone realised what the issue was, one of the groomsmen ran down to meet the Kombi with a key. At the same time, a couple of cheeky cows had decided to make their way through another gate to see what everyone was congregating under the tree for. Another groomsmen was tasked with herding the cattle back, and after a short while, everything was back on track.

The rest of the day ran like clockwork. Michelle Shannon delivered a beautifully heartfelt service (as she always does). The bridal party and I shot around the showgrounds and the main street of Bangalow before heading back to the Moller pavilion where the party really started.

Kerrie & Owen. A Tucki Tucki Wedding.

Kerrie & Owen. A Tucki Tucki Wedding.

What an absolutely stunning day it was for Kerrie and Owen’s wedding last Saturday. Blue skies and uninterrupted views that stretched as far as the eye could see. The couple chose to hold their wedding on family property across the road from where they live at Tucki Tucki. Owen had spent many, many hours over the previous months clearing the land of boulders and lantarna, and the result was one of the nicest outdoor wedding locations anywhere around Lismore.

Kerrie and Owen were joined by their closest friends and family (and some of their favourite heifers) for a beautifully heartfelt ceremony officiated by Dot Orchard.

Once the formalities were out of the way, we spent the afternoon shooting in the gorgeous late afternoon light and then we all made our way to the Ballina RSL Club where the festivities continued long into the night.

Katrina & Craig. A Belongil Wedding.

Katrina & Craig. A Belongil Wedding.

What an incredible day it was for Kate and Craig’s wedding. Craig is a fellow photographer who is kicking all sorts of goals in the photography world at the moment, so it was a huge honour to be entrusted with shooting his wedding.

Kate and Craig met at a Movember charity event a few years back and since then the romance has just gone from strength to strength and last year the guys welcomed their son Leo into the world. Little Leo stole the show at various moments throughout the day, and just like his dad, has an automatic smile cover his face as soon as a camera is pointed towards it.

The couple chose to have an intimate gathering in the parkland behind the dunes at Belongil Beach, officiated by the lovely Kirsty Laing. It was a gorgeous afternoon, and once all the formalities were out of the way, we popped over to The Pass for a quick sunset photo session. Special thanks to another superstar photographer, Benjamin Lynch, for helping capture the ceremony and location shoot.

The reception was held at the Belongil Bistro, where everyone was treated to incredible food, wonderful service and great music by Matt Walker.
