City Gardens can be such magical places. Hidden oases within the hustle and bustle of a fast-paced city. The Brisbane Botanic Gardens at Mount Coot-tha are certainly no exception. I hadn’t been to the gardens since we moved out of Brisbane, so it was nice to revisit them and although the carpark was full and there must have been hundreds of people within the gardens, it was easy to think we had the place all to ourselves.
Diane & Josh are getting married in Indooroopilly next April. The Mt Cooth-tha Gardens were one of the other venues they were considering for their wedding, so it was nice to be able to use this as the backdrop for their engagement session. This was such a relaxed and casual shoot, I can’t wait until the wedding in April.

What a beautiful afternoon it was yesterday for Renee & Tom’s engagement photo session. I’ve said it before, and I’ll no doubt say it again… Byron Bay and her surrounding villages have no shortage of gorgeous locations to shoot in. Renee & Tom are Ewingsdale locals and we started the session just off the highway on the way into Byron Bay. Ewingsdale has some beautiful country settings and it is literally just a few minutes from the beach. From there we headed to Belongil Beach for a little variety in the session. The guys introduced me to a part of Belongil that I hadn’t been to before. An amazing, secluded beach that I am sure to return to.
I hope you enjoyed the session as much as I did guys and that you love your images. I can’t wait for your Figtree wedding next year.

Di and Don are such a lovely couple and shooting their engagement portraits was a really nice way to wind up a rather busy weekend. Blessed with another gorgeous afternoon, the entire shoot took place in the backyard of their waterfront property and aboard CatNirvana, their beautiful cruising yacht. Don sailed CatNirvana all the way from Italy to her home port of Yamba in 2011, and the couple are soon to embark on another sailing adventure, returning in time for their Yamba wedding on the very last day of Spring. Thanks for such a relaxing afternoon guys… I hope you love your images.

Engagement sessions are so much fun that I think I could happily shoot one everyday… and lately it almost seems like I have been!
This past Saturday was Melissa and Bradley’s turn. Melissa was the winner of our $300 Gift Voucher at this year’s Ballina Bridal Expo. She and Brad were newly engaged and super-excited to have won. We were lucky enough to shoot on one of those magical Autumn afternoons at the popular Shelly Beach, Ballina and the Serpentine, a stunning area of Ballina that makes a perfect backdrop for a Northern River’s sunset. It was a lovely relaxing afternoon and I hope Melissa and Bradley love their images as much as I loved taking them.

I can’t believe I almost postponed this shoot. Just a couple of hours before I met with Rebecca and Jason, it was lightly raining and there were very dark storm clouds hovering all around. Thankfully the clouds all drifted off the coast and we were left with an absolutely spectacular afternoon. As a photographer, I don’t think I could have asked for better lighting.
Rebecca and Jason are getting married this spring at a gorgeous location in the Tweed hinterland. The Abbey features a lake-side open Chapel, set on 45 acres of sub-tropical countryside and I simply can’t wait to capture their wedding for them. It’s awesome when you can look forward to a gorgeous location with a fun and relaxed couple – I’m sure their wedding will be a true celebration.
Hope you love these photos as much as I loved taking them Rebecca and Jason. Best of luck with all your plans and I’ll talk to you soon.
