Hope & Isaac. A Gorgeous Rous Mill Wedding.

Hope & Isaac. A Gorgeous Rous Mill Wedding.

Hope and Isaac were high school sweethearts whose love and affection grew over the course of six years, bringing them to this… their wedding day!

The day started with Hope and her bridesmaids being pampered by the girls at Lazuli Sisters Hair and Makeup Studio in Lismore. While they were in the midst of their preparations, I made a quick trip out to Casino to where the boys were all getting ready. As is so often the case with the groomsmen, this was a very casual, stress-free event, fuelled by a few ice-cold beers.

After another short stop in Lismore to catch the final stages of hair and make-up, the girls and I made our way to the couple’s home in Goonellabah where they all slipped into their gorgeous gowns before heading off to the wedding venue. Hope and Isaac chose Christine’s Church of the Two Grandfathers as the location for their wedding and what an absolutely magical setting this is. The church was originally built in 1895 and is one of the few timber churches in Australia that is still in it’s original condition. Now lovingly nestled next to a macadamia orchard and surrounded by a beautiful rose garden, it truly is a stunning location for a wedding.

Congratulations to a beautiful couple!

Briony & Diamond. A Lennox Head Engagement Session.

Briony & Diamond. A Lennox Head Engagement Session.

At the start of this year, following the results of Australia’s Marriage Law Postal Survey, fellow photographer Melle Veronesi offered up her wedding photography services to one lucky same-sex couple at no charge. This very quickly snowballed into an entire wedding with more than 20 local wedding suppliers and soon the Same-Sex Wedding Competition valued at over $15,000 was born.

As Melle was obviously covering the wedding photography part of the competition, I offered up my services for the lucky couple’s engagement session.

Briony and Diamond were the lucky winners and I couldn’t imagine a more deserving couple. These guys were so appreciative and oh so much in love! I was so happy to have been able to be a part of their journey.

For their engagement session, we spent a gorgeous afternoon strolling along the beach at Lennox Head. Below are the results of our time together.

Katrina & Craig. A Belongil Wedding.

What an incredible day it was for Kate and Craig’s wedding. Craig is a fellow photographer who is kicking all sorts of goals in the photography world at the moment, so it was a huge honour to be entrusted with shooting his wedding.

Kate and Craig met at a Movember charity event a few years back and since then the romance has just gone from strength to strength and last year the guys welcomed their son Leo into the world. Little Leo stole the show at various moments throughout the day, and just like his dad, has an automatic smile cover his face as soon as a camera is pointed towards it.

The couple chose to have an intimate gathering in the parkland behind the dunes at Belongil Beach, officiated by the lovely Kirsty Laing. It was a gorgeous afternoon, and once all the formalities were out of the way, we popped over to The Pass for a quick sunset photo session. Special thanks to another superstar photographer, Benjamin Lynch, for helping capture the ceremony and location shoot.

The reception was held at the Belongil Bistro, where everyone was treated to incredible food, wonderful service and great music by Matt Walker.

Kimberley & Shane. An Elements of Byron Wedding.

Kimberley & Shane. An Elements of Byron Wedding.

Last weekend was truly an emotional weekend for weddings in the Northern Rivers region. The area was hit with the worst flooding in almost 50 years and many couple’s weddings were affected. Roads were cut in all directions which meant wedding guests and suppliers simply weren’t able to reach their destination.

For Kimberley and Shane, several of their guests were trapped north of Byron Bay and the disappointment was obvious. Tears were flowing, stress levels were high, but then at the last minute, while Shane was patiently waiting for his bride-to-be, a group of guests came sprinting across the fields and made it to the ceremony literally seconds before Kim arrived.

Luck it seemed was definitely on Kim and Shane’s side. The clouds parted and the couple were married under the first patch of blue sky I had seen for what seemed like weeks.

This set the tone for the rest of the day. Kim and Shane exchanged vows, with their gorgeous daughter Luella in their arms, at Elements of Byron’s beautiful Heart of the Bay in front of their closest family and friends, to the acoustic tunes of Luke & Sebastian.

The reception was held back at the resort, where everyone enjoyed themselves long into the evening.

Claire & Christian. A Fingal Head Wedding.

Claire & Christian. A Fingal Head Wedding.

Claire and Christian became husband and wife under a rustic arbor and blue skies, overlooking the golden sands of Fingal Head Beach. It was a gorgeous day full of laughter… in fact, I don’t know if the couple realise just how much they laughed throughout the day, which, in my opinion, is the only way to start a life together.

The day started with the boys taking in an early surf before heading back to Peppers Bale Apartments to prepare for the big event. The girls spent a lazy morning in hair and makeup and then readied themselves at a private residence in Kingscliff.

After the ceremony, the bridal party and I wandered up to the point overlooking Cook Island for some location shots where the laughter (and bubbles) continued to flow. Finally, it was onto Babalou at the Kingscliff Beach Hotel for a wonderful reception with incredible food, drinks and live music.
