Paula and Patrick… and Emma. Byron Bay Engagement Session

Paula-Patrick-01

About five or ten minutes into Paula and Patrick’s engagement session, we were caught in a downpour and for a while were debating whether to sit it out or to try again another day. Thankfully we stuck it out and good ol’ Byron Bay presented herself with an absolutely gorgeous afternoon. Even though everyone was a little wetter than we would have liked, one good thing that came from the rain was that it cleared the beach for us. Apart from a few surfers, we had Wattegos all to ourselves which is quite rare indeed.

Little Emma, who was quite shy when we began, was stealing the limelight by the end of the shoot and I’m sure she’ll play an important role in Paula and Patrick’s November wedding at Broken Head.

Fiona & Simon. Byron Bay Engagement Session.

byron-bay-engagement-photography

Byron Bay is a fantastic place for a destination wedding. Quite a few of my clients live out of town and travel to the beautiful beaches and the amazing wedding venues that Byron Bay offers.

All of my wedding packages include an engagement session, which usually takes place months prior to the wedding but because Fiona & Simon live in Sydney and weren’t in the region until a few days before their wedding, instead we used their complimentary engagement session as an opportunity to get their girls Ella & Lucy comfortable in front of the camera. We all had a great time running around and jumping in the waves, especially Ella & Lucy.

Fiona and Simon were married yesterday with a beautiful beach ceremony on the pristine shores of Byron Bay followed by a fun reception with friends and family at the Byron Beach Cafe… but more on that later this week (keep an eye out for the blog post).

Melinda & Jonathan. Burleigh Heads Engagement Session

burleigh-heads-photography-01

It was a glorious morning at Burleigh Heads the morning we shot Melinda and Jonathan’s engagement session. The 5am start was certainly worth it to be able to witness such a beautiful sunrise. The nature walk is a popular destination for local walkers and runners and I think we were all hoping it would be a little quieter than it is in the afternoon… sadly, I think it was just as busy, if not busier. On the up side, there are plenty of little nooks and crannies off the pathway that are perfect backdrops for portraits, so we made use of as many as we could.

Melinda and Jonathan will be getting married next May at the Abbey, Cobaki. The Abbey is a gorgeous open air, lakeside chapel that is as picturesque as it sounds. I can’t wait for their big day.

Emma & Bryan. Burleigh Heads Engagement Session.

Emma and Bryan just can’t wait to get married. No really… they just can’t wait!

I first met Emma and Bryan quite a while ago at a wedding venue expo and they initially booked me for their wedding in September 2014. A few months ago, I received a call to see if I was available on December 7th 2013 instead. It seems the idea of a Christmas honeymoon through Europe was just too good to hold out for, and so they bumped their wedding forward ten months! A great idea I think guys. I wish we were off to Europe for Christmas.

Here is just a small sampling of the images we captured a couple of weeks ago along the walkway through the Burleigh Heads National Park. You’ll see more of Emma and Bryan in just a few weeks.

Kim & Stuart. Bangalow Engagement Session.

What a great shoot this was. These guys are so much fun, I simply can’t wait for their big day. And I won’t have to wait long. Kim & Stuart are getting married in just a couple of weeks at two of Byron Bay’s most stunning wedding venues. The ceremony is taking place at Byron View Farm, an incredible property with uninterrupted 360 degree views across the Byron hinterland and coastline. Their reception will then take place at Byron Beach Cafe at Clarkes Beach. It’s going to be a spectacular day.

Kim & Stuart live about a 30 second walk from our house and they wanted to keep their engagement session pretty close to home… so we literally went for a walk around the block. I am always on the lookout for gorgeous locations to shoot in, but it’s amazing what you can find right in your own backyard.
