Louise & Tiernan. A Ballina Engagement Session.

Louise-Tiernan-ENG-001

What an incredible afternoon it was on Sunday in Ballina for Louise and Tiernan’s engagement session. As I was driving into Ballina, I came very close to calling these guys and rescheduling the shoot as there was plenty of rain and heavy storm clouds all over Ballina. I’m so glad I didn’t! We started the shoot at Shelly Beach and although there were storms raging off the coast, the air was still… eery still… and so the risk of getting caught in the rain was pretty low. We were just winding up and heading back to the cars when we caught a few sprinkles. Great timing! The same thing happened at North Wall and the light was simply superb. We finished the afternoon at The Serpentine where things were really starting to look a little grey, but as we were on a winning streak, just as we were about to finish up, the sun poked through the only hole in the clouds and just showered the entire landscape in an amazingly rich golden glow. All in all, I couldn’t have asked for a better performance from the Weather Gods!

Melissa & James. A Bangalow Engagement Session.

Mel-James-Engagement-001

I spent a beautiful afternoon with Melissa & James recently at Bangalow’s newest wedding venue Forget Me Not Weddings. This venue is a hidden little oasis with gorgeous grounds, a great pond with rustic jetty and set amongst the rolling hills and countryside that make this part of the world so popular with wedding couples.

Melissa & James are to be married at the end of the month at the equally spectacular Fig Tree Restaurant & Rooms, overlooking beautiful Byron Bay. If you are planning a wedding and happen to be in the area next weekend (June 20/21), pop into Fig Tree to see myself and many other wedding vendors at this year’s Byron Bay Wedding Fair. I’d love to discuss your wedding with you, so come along. I’ll be there all weekend.

Annie & Denham. Lennox Head Engagement Session.

Annie-Denham-001

Easter Weekend in the Northern Rivers for the most part was wet… wet, wet, wet. Annie and Denham were up from country Victoria visiting family and had scheduled their engagement shoot for Saturday afternoon, but sadly it was too wet to achieve the kind of sunny beach shots the couple had in mind. On Sunday however, the clouds parted and gave way to an absolutely glorious afternoon. Lennox Head holds a special place in the couple’s hearts, so it was great to be able to shoot in and around Lennox and Boulder Beach.

You’ll see more of Annie and Denham later in the year when they are married on Annie’s family property at Alstonville.

Karmen & Nick. Byron Bay Engagement Photo Session.

Karmen-Nick-001

I absolutely love sunset sessions at the beach, and Karmen and Nick’s engagement session was certainly no exception. Karmen and Nick are visiting Australia from Hong Kong and wanted some images to celebrate their engagement but also to capture the essence of their new favourite place, Byron Bay. On a day that started out very overcast and grey, I couldn’t believe the gorgeous afternoon we had to work with. Everything fell into place and the result was a fun, casual shoot in one of the most amazing places on the planet.

The guys are due to be married back in Hong Kong later this year. Karmen and Nick, don’t forget if you have trouble finding a wedding photographer back in Hong Kong, I’m only a nine hour flight away : )

Kym and Kent. The Pass, Byron Bay engagement session.

K&K-Blog-00808

It was a simply glorious afternoon on Tuesday in Byron Bay. I spent the last 90 minutes of daylight strolling between The Pass and Clarkes Beach, capturing these images for Kym & Kent on their engagement session shoot. We include an engagement session with each of our wedding packages. It’s a great way for everyone to get to know one another, and for me to understand what is important to the couple photographically. I believe this is something that shouldn’t wait until the wedding day and having this prior knowledge can only add to the quality of images captured on the big day.

Kym & Kent are to be married this Saturday in Alstonville with their reception at Down Convery’s Lane. Keep an eye on the blog for more from this stunning couple.
